Molly #24 - One Hundred Portraits of American Teenagers

"Be optimistic. Nothing is really that bad as a teenager, just focus on having fun. "
Molly filled in for us last minute when another model didn't show up, so we only had 3 hours. She had a very dramatic look, I would have loved to have more time painting her.

Portraits of Promise: One Hundred Alla Prima Portraits of American Teenagers

On this blog I am documenting my current painting series, "One Hundred Alla Prima Portraits of American Teenagers". I began this series in September, 2010. The models are all teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19. Any statements in quotes included just below the paintings are from the models, and are taken from their responses to a questionnaire I asked them to complete. Each portrait is painted from life in a single four hour session. The paintings are all 14"x14", oil on canvas, and are painted under artificial light.
